The seeing was outstanding last night up until about 12:30am, then turned terrible. Just as I was about to pack-up and hit the sack, the seeing started to settle and shortly after we had some of the best seeing of the season. It wasn’t perfect by any means, but we had a good solid 45 minute stretch of 8/9 seeing. At one point, I noted that the view on the monitor looked like I was looking an unsharpened stack of frames. I’m processing backward from the end of the session, so I’ll update with additional images as warranted. I suspect there might be some better images waiting to be processed.
Lots of interesting detail around the GRS and Oval BA. The storms have been eluding me since July, so it was particularly lucky for me to catch them during the moments of good seeing.
and with the monochrome channels…
And in IR (>742nm)
And one more from slightly earlier. The seeing at the time this was taken was simply excellent and the around around the GRS shows a bit more detail. Overall, the later image appears slightly better because I was able to stack 2500 frames/channel. In this earlier image, I only stacked 1500 frames per channel because of an odd glitch with the computer.
